extended section (script):
Today, I am going to show you part of the reason why Bangladeshi people do not have enough food. Remember, this is only part of the reason, and reality is way more complicated than only this.

Let’s start off from the United States of America, show its urban, suburban, and rural areas, and pass by Japan, Korea, China, and Vietnam as we go towards Bangladesh.
As you can see, Bangladesh is not a large country. With a country size like Bangladesh, one would probably assume it to have a population of under 40 million people. However, it has a population of more than 150 million. According to Google, the population is 163 million in 2016 to be exact.
Now let’s zoom into aerial imagery of Bangladesh.
From afar, it may look like the country is sparsely populated. However, as we zoom in…we can see that the houses are relatively tightly packed, even in rural areas multiple miles away from urban areas. The rural areas of Bangladesh are not that rural at all. They are definitely no “countryside”. Judging by the household size and the number of houses per square kilometer in rural areas, it seems like the population density there is even greater than that of suburban USA cities! Who thought it would be possible for a rural area to be more crowded than a suburban area!

Let’s now take a look at the deep countryside of Bangladesh, not just the regular rural areas. Dhaka is the capital and largest city. As you can see, even in rural areas that are more than 100 miles (160 kilometers) away from any major city or town, there are still many houses per square kilometer. The places I just showed you (excluding the cities) are the most remote parts of Bangladesh. Since Bangladesh is not a very small country, this just shows you how huge Bangladesh’s population is. This just shows the huge overpopulation and overcrowding problem there. It is so rampant.
Now let’s compare its overall population density to those of other countries. As you can see, as a country, Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, but nowhere near number one. Also, bear in mind that the list also included territories that are not independent, but are part of another country. As you can see, there are a handful of countries and territories that have a population density a few times that of Bangladesh. However, it is unfair to compare Bangladesh to those as they are city-states. Though city-states are extremely densely populated, they rely on their surrounding countries. The surrounding country is usually not crowded, so the people in the city-states can easily take a day trip out for recreation. Also, even within city-states, the smaller absolute number of people means that crowds and traffic are easier to handle, even if the density remains the same. It is because the overall crowded area has decreased.

Sure, Bangladesh has arguably the most fertile land on the planet, but everything is finite. Even things that are so abundant eventually have an end. With few people, it is unimaginable that the resources can be used up. But with an unimaginable amount of people crowded into a relatively small space, it can now be imagined that the resources are in short supply per capita.

Also, area expands quadratically, while perimeter expands linearly, which means that bigger countries generally have a smaller perimeter-to-area ratio. Evacuation time is based on perimeter. Even if Bangladesh were a developed country, say, if 30 percent of its population were to go on vacation abroad, the people in its very heart would have a hard time getting out. They would have to wait for days to get out of the country, because in order for them to exit, all the tens of millions of people around them that are closer to the borders must leave first. As those tens of millions of people leave within a short period of time, massive gridlock ensues. Even modern freeways, railways, and even high speed rail cannot cope with that amount of people in that timeframe. The amount of transportation infrastructure would be limited, due to the fact that infrastructure itself takes up land. This just shows that an overpopulated society will NOT have a decent quality of life, no matter how well-developed a place is. After all, everything is limited by physics. Money and effort cannot solve problems if the math and physics do not allow it to.
